Dravid’s recall makes Vengsarkar tensed
Dilip Vengsarkar, the former chief of selectors of the Indian cricket team, is much worried about the Indian team’s future. He said that Rahul Dravid’s recall into the Indian ODI side displays the distressed condition of Indian cricket. Vengsarkar axed Dravid from the Indian ODI side earlier in 2007. From that time, the talented batsman remained out of the ODI team for about two years.
Vengsarkar said that if Dravid is finally placed in the team that means that, a few of the current Indian batsmen could play the short balls. It also means that India don’t have any new player of such capability and this is rather disturbing.
He also included that, cricketers like Piyush Chawla, Virat Kohli, Dhaval Kulkarni and Ajinkya Rahane were needed to be granted for getting chances. When speaking about Rohit Sharma, he said that Rohit had gone into a comfort zone, which was the main reason of dropping him.
He also praised Dravid at the finishing of his short speech. He said that, he believes Dravid is a great batsman. Moreover, because the ODI is also batsman’s game like test, Dravid will perform here. Dravid had said earlier, that he does not have any point to prove to anybody.
