Skin, like all organs of the body, require a structural network based on collagen. Since there are no bones or cartilage that support the skin, it must support itself by the very cells that compose it. Thus, most of the structural collagen is concentrated in special collagen cells. Normal skin cells die and are replaced on a regular basis but collagen cells are not. Thus, wrinkle creams that work must, in some way, affect the health and longevity of these cells.
