Entry level printers from Epson have always been good and that doesn’t seem to have changed with the Epson S21. One thing that has change in recent years is printer ink cartridges, instead of using a single block colour printer cartridges the Epson S21 ink cartridges consist of four individual units which can be changed independently when each colour has run out. The print quality produced by the Stylus S21 is excellent for such a cheap printer and will give a few more expensive printers from other brands a run of their money. It can print of a variety of media including all types of photo paper and envelopes into A4 size. The printer is very easy to install onto PC or Mac and is play ’n play compatible. It easy to use as well, has ink level monitors and the cartridges are easy to install when the need replacing. The built quality of the Stylus is well above the average of a budget printer, the plastics feel solid and should survive everyday use. The weak point of the S21 is the printing speed, inkjets are not known for their speedy printing but the S21 is so slow it’s almost painfully. The official speed is 25 pages per minute but these has been tested by many sources the real world figure is close to 3 pages per minute for text printing. Overall the Stylus S21 is a good little machine as long as your not printing lots of pages.
